Cataloging Resources for Other Languages

Arabic script is the official script for many languages. Some of these languages were influenced by the Arabic language as a result of religious and cultural factors.

There are 13 ALA-LC romanization tables for languages written in the Arabic script (Arabic, Azerbaijani, Kashmiri (in Perso-Arabic Script), Kazakh (in Arabic Script), Kurdish, Ottoman Turkish, Persian, Pushto, Sindhi (in Arabic script), Urdu (in Arabic Script), Uighur, Uzbek, Divehi). There are other languages are written in Arabic script which do not yet have an official ALA-LC romanization table, like Wolof (a member of the Senegambian branch of the Niger-Congo language).

Romanization tables for non-Arabic script languages include Hebrew and Yiddish and Coptic.
